Suranaree University of Technology is located in Nakhon Ratchasima, in northeastern Thailand. It was founded in 1990 and officially began operations in 1993. Since 2009, it has been one of Thailand's nine national research universities and is the country's first autonomous university.

        Specializing in science and technology, Suranaree University of Technology aims to meet the growing demand for highly skilled professionals in these fields. In addition to teaching, research, academic services, and cultural development, the university focuses on the application and transfer of technology. This is done to encourage and promote the creation and development of technologies that meet community needs and foster self-sufficiency in Thailand.

Suranaree University of Technology is nationally and internationally accredited. Since 1992, the university has established partnerships with international institutions and organizations and has signed several academic cooperation agreements with universities around the world. For instance, it is a joint member of the ALICE project, collaborating with CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research), which provides SUT researchers with access to advanced research tools and facilities. The university is recognized as one of 14 Thai universities with international research standards. Furthermore, SUT serves as the Secretariat for the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), which helps build academic cooperation networks, and is designated as the Asia-Pacific Cooperative Education Office by the World Association for Cooperative Education.
