To promote the concept of green chemistry, Chemicals Administration, Ministry of Environment, holds the “Green Chemistry Application and Innovation Award” annually to recognize enterprises and research teams that achieve both environmental protection and innovation. The award encourages industries to integrate sustainability into their manufacturing processes and product development. On October 22 (Wednesday), faculty members and students from our department were invited by Environmental Resource and Information Co., Ltd., the commissioned organizer, to visit one of the award-winning companies — LCY Co., Ltd.
Through the introduction and insightful sharing of Mr. Yang, an outstanding alumnus of our department and the current Director at LCY Co., Ltd., students had the opportunity to gain first-hand insights into how green chemistry is implemented in the industry. From process improvement to energy efficiency enhancement, LCY Co., Ltd. demonstrated through concrete actions the vital role of chemistry in advancing sustainable development.
LCY Co., Ltd. was recognized for its two innovative technologies:
Development of a Recyclable Single-Material Shoe Sole — Designed with a single polymer to enhance recycling efficiency and reduce waste generation.
Development of a Fluorine-Free High-Performance Polyimide — Replacing fluorine-containing components with eco-friendly raw materials to achieve both high performance and environmental sustainability.
In addition to the corporate awards, the Ministry of Environment also organizes the “Green Chemistry Innovation Competition for Colleges and Universities” to encourage students to put environmental concepts into practice through creativity, transforming academic research into innovative solutions with real social impact.
Through this visit, students not only gained a deeper understanding of the core values of “green chemistry,” but also witnessed the transformation from theory to practice, and from campus to industry — demonstrating how chemistry can serve as a driving force for a sustainable future.
