Our laboratory focuses on three main research areas:

Synthesis, Structure, and Reactivity of Mononuclear and Multinuclear Organometallic Clusters: This includes metal activation of small organic molecules, carbon-hydrogen and carbon-carbon bond activation reactions in homonuclear and heteronuclear metal clusters, and oligomerization reactions of molecules. We have discovered several new chemical reactions and obtained some organometallic compounds with potential applications.

Synthesis of Multifunctional Organic Ligands and Supramolecular Complexes: We synthesize organic ligands with multiple functional groups and assemble them into nanometer-sized supramolecular chains, rings, cages, or polymers through reactions with metal ions or organometallic compounds. These compounds have the potential to be developed into inorganic materials, and we are investigating their structural, electronic, and photochemical properties.

Synthesis of Organometallic Fullerene Compounds and Metal Nanoparticles: Using graphite arc discharge, we synthesize organometallic fullerene compounds and endohedral metallofullerenes. Additionally, we use electron beam evaporation to create metal thin films and techniques such as molten metal methods to synthesize metal nanoparticles and organometallic supramolecular compounds.
