Our lab primarily focuses on the application of organometallic compounds in organic synthesis and the investigation of reaction mechanisms, particularly with iron tricarbonyl complexes of cyclopropenyl (1,3-cyclohexadiene). In fundamental research, we aim to understand the role of substituents on tricarbonyl iron complexes and their effects on reactivity, regioselectivity, and stereochemistry. We also seek to develop new synthetic methods to obtain high-purity photochemically active tricarbonyl iron complexes and explore new synthetic applications.

Another major research direction lies in bioorganic chemistry, especially in drug design and mechanism studies, such as those involving saframycin and bleomycin. Given the severe side effects of many natural anticancer drugs, our goal is to design a new generation of drugs with high anticancer efficacy and lower side effects by understanding the reaction mechanisms of known anticancer agents.

In materials science, discotic liquid crystals (DLCs) are a class of materials with a rigid aromatic core and branched side chains that self-organize into columnar structures. These unique properties have a wide range of potential applications. Our research focuses on the rapid and efficient synthesis of new discotic liquid crystals based on a hexakis-substituted triphenylene (HAT) core and exploring their applications.
