On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the Department of Chemistry at National Sun Yat-sen University organized an English-language corporate visit to Eternal Group Luzhu Plant. This event provided students with a comprehensive understanding of developments in the chemical industry and key preparations for entering the workforce. The diverse and enriching agenda left participants with valuable insights and practical knowledge.
The visit featured four key highlights. First, representatives from Eternal Group’s management team delivered a company introduction and shared insights into the company’s recent developments. They elaborated on innovative technologies, market trends, and product diversification in the chemical industry, helping students gain a deeper understanding of industry dynamics. Next, students toured laboratories, where they observed advanced instruments and equipment in operation. They learned how chemical knowledge is applied in scenarios. The company’s main products include general-purpose resins, coating resins, unsaturated polyester resins, specialty coatings, specialty monomers, circuit boards, electronic specialty chemicals, packaging materials, and more.
During the experience-sharing and Q&A session, students eagerly inquired about the use of equipment and preparations required for entering the workforce. Eternal Group’s representatives offered practical career advice and explored diverse career paths for chemistry professionals in the corporate sector. The visit concluded with a tour of the Art Museum managed by Eternal Group, where students enhanced their cultural and aesthetic sensibilities, balancing technical learning with an appreciation for the arts.
This corporate visit not only deepened students’ understanding of the chemical industry but also provided a rare opportunity for direct interaction with industry professionals. Participants gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities they may encounter in their future careers. For international students and those participating in short-term programs like the International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP) or the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP), the visit offered an in-depth look at Taiwan’s industrial development and marked a significant milestone for retaining foreign talent in Taiwan.
The fully English-conducted event also significantly improved students’ language skills and their familiarity with chemistry-related terminology. Students expressed that the knowledge and hands-on experience gained during the visit clarified areas they need to focus on for future career development and provided practical exposure to the chemical industry.
