本實驗室主要研究著重在有機金屬在有機合成上的運用,及反應機構的探討,特別是1.3環乙烯三羰基鐵錯合物。 在基本研究上,我們希望瞭解取代基在三羰基鐵錯合物所扮演的角色,對反應性、特位選擇性和立體化學的影響。 我們也希望建立新的合成方法,得具有高純度的光化學活性三羰基鐵錯合物及開發新的合成應用。

另一個主要研究方向是在生物有機,特別對藥物的合成設計和機構,如saframycin和bleomycin。 天然界的抗癌藥物都有很嚴重的負作用,對於已瞭解的抗癌藥物之反應機構,我們希望設計出具有高抗癌藥效及低負作用的新一代藥物。

在材料方面上,盤狀液晶(discotic liquid crystals)是一種具有剛硬的芳香環核心, 以及具有分支的側鏈,能夠自動排列成管柱狀,此特殊性質應有很多的用途, 因此,本實驗室的研究方向則是著重於以HAT為主體來快速有效的合成新的盤狀液晶及盤狀液晶的應用。
